Hope you are all staying well. The fishing on Cape is still great, despite the pea soup fog we have been having this whole week. Jax is still mainly fishing for stripers and tuna. The keeper stripers have been harder to find lately, but with some picking through shorts they are still out there. The giant bluefins are still catch a release due to the market not being fully open but there are some recreational sized fish swimming around out there as well. There is so much bait around including mackerel, squid, sand eels and pogies that the tuna should be sticking around for a while, eating good.
We do have a couple openings available this coming week for striped bass, tuna and fluke. The whales shows have been incredible lately and Jax offers private whale watches which is always a blast. This week we had a charter party from New Jersey that got to cross off giant bluefin off their bucket lists, which is what we love to see here at Jax Charters. Right now with the striped bass fishing starting to slow down, you should think about booking a tuna trip. The bluefin are close to shore are definitely biting, fighting them is something you will never forget.
On another note, the North East canyons are starting to heat up! Jax has a trip out the edge planed for next week to check out what's happening 120 miles off shore. Report is that the canyons are holding a bunch of yellowfin and big eye right now and we can't wait to get out here to check it out for ourselves!
Until next week,
Capt. Caroline Scotti
