Hello All!

Hope you are all healthy and doing well. This week was a blast for Jax Fishing, we decided to get in on all the squid action! Squid is a great bait to use for fluke, seabass, scup and swordfish out at the canyons, not to mention great when fried as well. We went out squid fishing with a plan to catch enough squid to freeze and use as bait for the season. The forecast was calling for beautiful weather on Wednesday and Thursday so we loaded the 28 up and, rigged up some squid jigs and got on out way!

We dumped the boat in at Smugglers, and run about 8nm over to Collier Ledge off of Hyannis. We were greeted by a fleet of about 50 boats, but weren't concerned because we knew there was more than enough squid to go around. After about five hours we had filled two five gallon buckets full of squid, gotten inked in the face multiple times and managed to repaint the boat black with ink. Around 1 o'clock we headed back to the ramp and then to the grocery store to get some bleach for cleaning!

After cleaning the boat off and bagging most of the squid, we cleaned a couple to have for dinner and it was definitely the freshest, most delicious calamari I've ever had. Now with a full freezer of squid we can't wait for the fluke bite to turn on! We will continue to keep you updated each week, and hopefully this charter ban doesn't last too much longer. In the mean time please stay safe and healthy, we'll be back to you all in a couple days!

Tight lines,

Capt. Caroline
